Answer:
This is for the first time that our party has formulated a Vision for the future (VISION 2020). This is not just for today or tomorrow but for a period of 10 years. VISION is not complete by itself. There may be alterations whenever the need arises taking into consideration the prevailing situation. However underlined principles on which this VISION is based will remain unchanged.
Implementation of the VISION will be different on different subjects. For example, if it is in respect of strengthening the structure of the Party, it has already started through the Party machinery. If it relates to the formation of frontal organizations, it depends on various organizational level activities. If we talk about a Centre for an in depth study and research on cultural, social and educational issues, the Party has to build the infrastructure. So the VISION will not be implemented in a day or a month. It has to be implemented step by step and issue by issue, within the timeframe of 10 years.

Answer: Before we take up organizational matters for a Party of minorities and backward classes, please realize that when we take the task to build a political party, we are likely to face a plethora of problems. Even in a progressive state like Kerala where the Muslim community by and large is deeply wedded to the ideals of IUML, we had to face insurmountable problems. Due to several reasons, including historical, in North India the party organization has to face many challenges to achieve this end. IUML had to face severe political untouchability because of circumstances prevailing soon after the partition of India. By the grace of Allah, IUML has always strived for unity, integrity and sovereignty of India and also for promotion of religious harmony and communal amity. This is being appreciated by the general public. Political untouchability is also fading away after the association of IUML with other secular political parties.
Our party advocates the cause of not only Muslims but also Dalits, deprived people and other backward classes. However we have to wait for some more time. Consistent programmes and policies pursued by Kerala State Muslim League under the sagacious leadership of C.H. Mohammed Koya and Panakkad Syed Mohammed Ali Shihab Thangal and others have projected the secular and progressive outlook of the party and earned for us esteem, respectability and acceptability to a great extent. The party is formulating its policy and programmes by keeping this in mind. We have already worked out a time bound programme to strengthen the party in all states.

Answer:
The first and foremost duty of the party is to organize the parent body - IUML in as many states as possible. Therefore we have to organize the youth, students, women and labour wings of the Party. In States like Kerala and Tamil Nadu the party structure is on very sound foundations. The other frontal organizations are also strong. But in other States we have worked out a time frame for the parent party to take roots and to strengthen its base. Let me also quote from our VISION 2020, to clear any doubts on the formation of frontal organization at the National level: “It is the responsibility of the National and State leadership to provide proper guidelines for up-to-the mark functioning of frontal organizations. There should be a consistent effort from the side of IUML at each level to monitor the activities and programmes of the frontal organizations. IUML is all set to organize a special national meet within six months in order to float the Muslim Youth League, Muslim Students Federation, Women’s League and Trade Union at the national level.”

Answer:
For the IUML, election is important, but that is not our only concern. I do appreciate your concern for more seats. In an Election, victory is very important. But we have to see the political reality as well as the political situation. Even with one seat in the parliament, IUML could get a berth in the Central Council of Ministers.
